The EDA participated in the 10th Arab International Pharmacists Conference (AIPC 2026), held under the slogan ""Purposeful Technology and Impactful Care."" The conference aimed to discuss the latest developments in pharmaceutical technology, digital transformation, and healthcare innovation, as well as to enhance the role of technology in supporting the efficiency and sustainability of the pharmaceutical system.
Representing the EDA was Dr. Yasin Ragaey, Assistant Chairman of the EDA, on behalf of Dr. Ali Al-Ghamrawy, Chairman of the EDA. The tenth edition of the conference is chaired by Dr. Khaled Moselhy, Professor of Pharmacognosy and Artificial Intelligence at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Cairo University, and is organized annually by the Arab Association for Pharmacists Development, headed by Dr. Samer Al-Rifai.
The conference was attended by a distinguished group of prominent figures from the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors, including Dr. Hala Zayed, former Minister of Health; Dr. Mohie Hafez, Chairman of the Export Council for Medical Industries; Dr. Ahmed El-Shafei, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Cairo University; Dr. Nagwa Hashem, Head of the Giza Pharmacists Syndicate; and Dr. Mohamed Esmat, President of the Pharmacists Club.
During his speech, Dr. Yasin Ragaey emphasized that technology, digital transformation, and artificial intelligence have become fundamental pillars for developing the pharmaceutical system and enhancing its efficiency and sustainability. He noted that the EDA adopts an integrated strategic vision to utilize modern digital solutions to support healthcare and pharmaceutical care, thereby improving service quality and enhancing patient safety.
He also highlighted the expansion of the ""Track & Trace"" pharmaceutical tracking program to tighten control over pharmaceutical supply chains. Additionally, he noted the development of pharmacovigilance systems, adverse event monitoring systems, and the utilization of artificial intelligence applications and data analysis to support regulatory decision-making and elevate the efficiency of the pharmaceutical sector.
In the same context, the EDA underscored the state's ongoing efforts to support pharmaceutical security, localize modern pharmaceutical industries, and expand the use of Common Technical Documents (CTD) for electronic registration. These efforts reinforce Egypt's position as a leading regional hub for pharmaceutical industries and healthcare.
The Authority stressed that investing in human capital is a core pillar of its strategy to develop the pharmaceutical system. This is achieved by qualifying pharmaceutical personnel to keep pace with rapid developments in the fields of pharmaceutical technology, artificial intelligence, and digital healthcare, thereby enhancing the health sector's capacity to handle future challenges and achieve the highest levels of efficiency and innovation.
Furthermore, the EDA participated in a panel discussion on pharmaceutical tracking. The session was presented by Dr. Salma Said, a member of the Pharmaceutical Information Systems team at the Authority, with the participation of representatives from the Pharmacists Club and pharmaceutical companies. The discussion highlighted the importance of pharmaceutical tracking in enhancing pharmaceutical safety and quality through information systems and digital transformation.
The Authority concluded its participation by reaffirming that the future of healthcare extends beyond merely providing medication; it relies on building a smart, integrated system based on innovation, knowledge, and modern technology to ensure the sustainability of health services and improve citizens' quality of life. It also noted that the upcoming phase requires the integration of efforts among regulatory, academic, and industrial institutions to formulate an advanced Arab model for health and pharmaceutical care capable of keeping pace with global changes and achieving regional leadership.
