The Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), chaired by Dr. Ali Al-Ghamrawy, participated in a roundtable convened by the American Chamber of Commerce to discuss advancing the competitiveness of Egypt’s pharmaceutical industry and promoting expansion into global markets.
The event gathered representatives from the Chamber alongside executives from multinational and domestic pharmaceutical companies and other industry stakeholders.
In his remarks, Dr. Al-Ghamrawy stressed the importance of sustained communication and partnership between the EDA and pharmaceutical industry stakeholders to support the sector’s long-term growth and strengthen Egypt’s ability to keep pace with international market developments.
He noted that the Authority remains committed to supporting the local pharmaceutical industry while guaranteeing the availability of safe, effective, and high-quality medicines. He also highlighted ongoing efforts to enhance regulatory and supervisory systems in alignment with international standards, helping to attract new investments and strengthen the trust of global pharmaceutical companies in Egypt’s pharmaceutical market.
Dr. Al-Ghamrawy also outlined the EDA’s efforts to expand access to African markets through deeper regulatory collaboration, faster registration procedures, and broader mutual recognition agreements with African regulatory agencies. These measures are expected to facilitate market access and contribute to higher levels of Egyptian pharmaceutical exports.
Participants from the American Chamber of Commerce and pharmaceutical companies commended the EDA for its efforts to improve the regulatory framework, increase transparency, and encourage investment within the pharmaceutical sector. They emphasized that these reforms are helping boost Egypt’s market competitiveness and creating stronger opportunities for regional and international partnerships.
The roundtable further explored approaches to strengthening domestic pharmaceutical manufacturing and increasing export capacity through supportive regulatory and economic policies, reinforcing Egypt’s position as a key regional center for pharmaceutical production and export.
Attendees concluded by emphasizing the need for continued collaboration between the EDA and industry partners to create a competitive and investment-friendly environment that supports sustainable growth and export expansion.
