Will the Egyptian Pharmacopoeia be issued by a governmental authority or an independent body?  

  • It is worth noting that the Law of the EDA establishment No. 151 of 2019, stipulates in Article 19 that the Board of Directors of the EDA is the dominant authority over the EDA's affairs, and it has the power to take all necessary actions to fulfill the Authority’s objectives, including issuing the Egyptian Pharmacopoeia. 
  • The Pharmacopoeia is published and issued by the main Committee for the Egyptian Pharmacopoeia, which is formed by a decision of the Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority. 

Are there electronic copies of previous editions?  

  • Five editions of the Egyptian Pharmacopoeia have been issued as hard copies not electronic as follow: 
  • First Edition: 1953 (English version), 1963 (Arabic version) 
  • Second Edition: 1972 
  • Third Edition: 1984 
  • Fourth Edition: 2005 

Will an electronic version of the Fifth Edition of the Egyptian Pharmacopoeia be issued?  

  • The Fifth Edition of the Egyptian Pharmacopoeia has been released electronically. 

Will universities and research centers be allowed to participate?  

  • Participation is open to all professionals and researchers in the field of drug control from various specialties, through applying via the dedicated link on the EDA official website. 

What are the activities related to the Egyptian Pharmacopoeia?  

  • The Technical Proficiency Testing Program, which aims to verify the validity of analysis results issued by quality control laboratories, is considered one of the key activities related to the Egyptian Pharmacopoeia.
