EDA Participates in the Digital Health Technologies Roundtable of the Future of Digital Countries Summit
The Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) participated in the Digital Health Technologies Roundtable, as part of its pivotal role in regulating the pharmaceutical system and supporting safe digital transformation pathways in the healthcare sector. The participation comes within the ongoing preparations for the launch of the 8th edition of the Future of Digital Countries (FDC) Summit 2026.
Representing the Egyptian Drug Authority at the roundtable were Brigadier Mohamed Tantawy, Advisor to the Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority for Digital Transformation, and Eng. Hatem Kandil, Chief Executive Officer of DAF, in addition to representatives from the Authority’s General Administration of Public Relations and International Cooperation.
The roundtable witnessed a high-level strategic dialogue, with the participation of a number of senior officials and experts, including Major General Eng. Amr Ayed, Assistant Minister of Health for Information Systems and Digital Transformation; Discussions addressed key issues related to digital transformation in the healthcare sector.
The sessions focused on topics such as health data governance, information security, and digital infrastructure readiness, in line with the rapid developments in health technology, and in a manner that contributes to enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of the healthcare system.
Participants also discussed mechanisms for adopting digital health solutions, including electronic health records, AI-assisted diagnostics, digital pharmacy services, and connected medical devices, emphasizing the importance of establishing advanced regulatory and legislative frameworks that ensure data security, protect patients’ rights, and strengthen cybersecurity systems.
Representatives of the Egyptian Drug Authority affirmed the Authority’s commitment to supporting responsible innovation and enhancing integration between digital transformation and pharmaceutical regulation, in a way that achieves a balance between encouraging the use of modern technologies and ensuring the highest standards of safety and quality.
The roundtable is considered one of the key pillars in the preparation process for FDC Summit 2026, scheduled to be held from 21 to 23 April 2026. Its outcomes contribute to shaping the summit’s health and digital governance tracks, reflecting the priorities of the Egyptian state and the needs of the healthcare sector.
The participation of the Egyptian Drug Authority underscores its national role in protecting the integrity of health data, regulating digital innovation, and supporting the development of a safe and sustainable digital healthcare system, in line with the state’s vision for digital transformation and human development.
