Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority discusses with Health Flow and Fixed Egypt the mechanisms for implementing the digital prescription project to support healthcare services

Dr. Ali El-Ghamrawy, Head of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), held an extensive meeting with representatives of Health Flow and Fixed Egypt. This comes within the framework of EDA’s efforts to support digital transformation in the healthcare sector and to discuss the mechanisms for implementing the digital prescription project.
The meeting covered several key topics, including the presentation of the project’s executive summary, addressing its technical and operational aspects, and discussing the expected impact of its implementation on improving healthcare services. It also reviewed potential areas of cooperation between the Authority and its partners to ensure the project’s success.
During the meeting, Dr. El-Ghamrawy stressed that the digital prescription project represents a strategic step towards achieving digital transformation in the healthcare sector, contributing to greater accuracy and faster delivery of pharmaceutical services to citizens. He explained that through this project, the Authority seeks to establish an integrated pharmaceutical data system that links healthcare providers, pharmacies, and hospitals, ensuring the optimal use of medicines and reducing medical errors associated with traditional paper prescriptions.
He added that the success of the project relies on close cooperation with specialized digital solution companies, along with the technical teams within the Authority, to develop an advanced technological infrastructure that supports all stakeholders. He emphasized that the Authority is working to integrate this project within the state’s comprehensive digital transformation strategies for healthcare services, to ensure safe and efficient service delivery to citizens, while achieving the highest standards of quality and efficiency in pharmaceutical care.
Attendees expressed their appreciation for EDA’s efforts in developing its services and advancing digital transformation, affirming that the digital prescription project represents a qualitative leap in improving the efficiency of medicine dispensing and ensuring patients receive medication safely and reliably. They also praised the Authority’s role in adopting national initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of healthcare services and promoting the rational use of medicines, contributing to building a fully integrated healthcare system aligned with the state’s vision for comprehensive digital transformation.
From the Egyptian Drug Authority, the meeting was attended by Counselor Sherif Magdy, Deputy Chairman of the State Council and Legal Advisor to the Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority; Dr. Amany Gawdat, Associate to the EDA Chairman and Supervisor of the Central
Administration of the Chairman Office; Eng. Mohamed Tantawi, Supervisor of Digital Transformation and Mechanization Projects; and Dr. Wael El-Sisi, Director of the Information and Systems Department.
External participants included Eng. Hatem Qandeel, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Daf company; Dr. Ahmed Safwat, CEO of Health Flow company; Dr. Amr Bakr, CEO of Strategy for Health Flow company; Dr. Samer Al-Rifai, Head of the Arab Institution for the Development of Arab Pharmacists; and Mr. Al-Wkeel Anwar Al-Safi, Managing Director of Fixed Egypt company.
