Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) and His Pakistani Counterpart Discuss Prospects for Cooperation to Enhance Pharmaceutical Partnership.
Dr. Al-Ghamrawy, Chairman of the EDA, welcomed Dr. Obaidullah, Chairman of the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP). This meeting is part of the EDA's commitment to strengthening its cooperation with international and regional drug authorities, which enhances the position of Egyptian pharmaceuticals and creates new partnerships at the regional and global levels.
The meeting focused on exploring cooperation in developing regulatory systems and exchanging technical expertise, as well as discussing mechanisms to support medical cooperation between the two countries and expanding partnership in training, qualification, and capacity building to strengthen the pharmaceutical system and achieve regional integration in this field.
Dr. Al-Ghamrawy affirmed that the EDA attaches great importance to cooperation with the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan, considering it a strategic partner in the Asian continent. He stressed the Authority's commitment to supporting all efforts aimed at enhancing the global competitiveness of Egyptian pharmaceutical products.
He added that the Authority operates with a clear vision based on embracing successful international experiences and adopting the best regulatory practices. This ensures the enhancement of Egypt's position as a regional hub for the pharmaceutical industry and export and reflects the growing role of the Authority in supporting the state's efforts to achieve pharmaceutical security and sustainable health development.
For his part, Dr. Obaidullah expressed his appreciation for the warm reception, praising the EDA's significant achievements of reaching Maturity Level 3 according to the WHO assessment. This represents international recognition of its regulatory capabilities. He also affirmed his aspiration to expand cooperation with the EDA, which opens new horizons for bilateral partnership and contributes to supporting access to safe and effective pharmaceutical products for the citizens of both countries.
From the EDA, the meeting was attended by Dr. Amany Gawdat, Associate to the EDA Chairman and Supervisor of the CA of the Chairman's Office, and Dr. Bassant Ahmed, representing the GA of International Cooperation, where they reviewed ways to enhance cooperation and exchange regulatory expertise between the two sides.
This meeting is part of the EDA's commitment to continuing its leading regional and international role in the field of pharmaceutical regulation and strengthening its presence as a key partner in building robust health systems capable of achieving sustainable development.
