EDA Chairman Meets with Representatives of “Mecomed” to Strengthen Cooperation in the Field of Medical Devices and Healthcare Technology
Dr. Ali El-Ghamrawy, Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), held a meeting with representatives of Mecomed, headed by Mr. Rami Ragab, Chief Executive Officer, along with several of the company’s regional and international partners in the Middle East and Africa. The meeting was held within the framework of the Authority’s efforts to enhance strategic partnerships with leading global companies operating in the fields of healthcare, medical devices, and health technology.
The discussions focused on mechanisms of joint cooperation to support and develop the medical devices and healthcare technology sector, in line with the State’s vision to improve the quality of health services and ensure the availability of the latest medical technologies and solutions for patients and healthcare professionals.
During the meeting, Dr. El-Ghamrawy emphasized the Authority’s keenness to build strong bridges of cooperation with leading global companies and institutions in the field of medical technology and devices. He noted that the EDA adopts a partnership and integration, based approach to support the health sector and strengthen its manufacturing and regulatory capacities. He added that such meetings provide an important opportunity for knowledge exchange and experience sharing, contributing to the State’s objectives of advancing local manufacturing and attracting investments in the healthcare sector.
The EDA Chairman further stressed that the Authority operates under a clear vision aimed at developing the regulatory system in line with international standards, ensuring the rapid availability of innovative medical devices in the Egyptian market while maintaining the highest levels of quality and safety.
For their part, representatives of Mecomed expressed their appreciation for the EDA’s efforts to develop the regulatory framework for medical devices and health technology, as well as its leading role in creating an investment-friendly environment within Egypt’s healthcare sector. They reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation with the EDA to promote knowledge exchange and the development of joint technical and regulatory capabilities, contributing to the faster availability of advanced medical technologies in Egypt and their broader regional adoption.
The Mecomed delegation commended the significant progress achieved by the EDA in modernizing the regulatory system, emphasizing that Egypt represents a key strategic partner in Mecomed’s plans to expand operations across the Middle East and Africa, and to strengthen healthcare systems through the implementation of global standards of quality and safety.
