Egyptian Drug Authority Discusses Mechanisms for Implementing the Digital Prescription Project

Dr. Ali Al-Ghamrawy, Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), held a meeting with a delegation from Fixed Egypt led by Mr. Anwar El-Safy, Chairman of the company, to discuss ways of cooperation in implementing the Digital Prescription Project and mechanisms for integrating it into the national healthcare system. The initiative aims to support the state’s efforts toward digital transformation and achieve integration among stakeholders in the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors.
Dr. Al-Ghamrawy emphasized that the digital prescription project represents one of the most important tools for transitioning toward a smart and integrated pharmaceutical system. He noted that the EDA seeks to develop a digital platform connecting doctors, pharmacists, and patients within a unified system that enables precise monitoring of drug dispensing and ensures its safe use.
He added that the EDA is steadily progressing toward building an interconnected digital pharmaceutical ecosystem based on the latest technologies, ensuring proper governance of drug circulation and improving the efficiency of healthcare services.
Dr. Al-Ghamrawy clarified that the project goes beyond merely automating procedures, it aims to establish a new concept for pharmaceutical management based on intelligent data analysis and effective monitoring of medicine movement from production to patient, thereby enhancing patient safety and strengthening public trust in the healthcare system.
He stressed that the EDA adopts a partnership and integration approach with all relevant entities to ensure sustainability in digital transformation projects within the pharmaceutical sector.
For its part, Fixed Egypt indicated that the project will help enhance the quality of services provided to patients through rapid information exchange among healthcare entities and ensure accurate follow-up of patients’ medication records. It will also enable comprehensive data analysis to support policymakers in developing more effective pharmaceutical strategies.
The company also expressed appreciation for the active leadership role of the Egyptian Drug Authority in steering the project and unifying the efforts of all partners to achieve a shared vision of a comprehensive digital healthcare ecosystem.
It was further noted that the EDA represents the cornerstone in building this new digital pharmaceutical system through its technical and regulatory oversight, ensuring integration among all participating entities and reinforcing partner confidence in the project’s success.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to maintain continuous coordination among all stakeholders to ensure the project’s implementation according to a defined timeline, contributing to electronic integration between the healthcare and pharmaceutical systems and achieving a fully developed model of digital medical prescriptions aligned with global advancements in digital health.
