Egyptian Drug Authority Discusses Mechanisms for Implementing the Pharmaceutical Track and Trace Project with Representatives of Contract Manufacturing Companies and Drug Warehouses.
Dr. Tamer El-Hossieny, Vice Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority, on behalf of Dr. Ali Al-Ghamrawy, Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority, held an extensive meeting with representatives of contract manufacturing companies and drug warehouses, in the presence of Dr. Ali Auf, Head of the Pharmaceutical Division at the General Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce, and Dr. Yousry Nawar, Board Member of the Chamber of Pharmaceutical Industry, to discuss the latest developments in the Pharmaceutical Track and Trace Project and review implementation mechanisms, and review the technical and regulatory aspects related to the project's regulatory guide.
The meeting addressed the potential challenges facing the project’s implementation among manufacturing companies and warehouses and explored proposals to facilitate execution procedures thereby achieving the system’s objectives of ensuring the safety and smooth circulation of pharmaceutical products in the Egyptian market.
Dr. Tamer El-Hossieny, Vice Chairman of the EDA, emphasized the Authority’s keenness to support all parties in the pharmaceutical system, listening to their observations, and providing practical solutions that contribute to the success of the Pharmaceutical Track and Trace Project. He noted that this project represents a qualitative leap in regulating the Egyptian pharmaceutical market, enhancing transparency and operational efficiency, and ensuring the delivery of safe pharmaceutical products to patients.
Representatives of the manufacturing companies and warehouses praised the effective role played by the EDA in supporting and developing the pharmaceutical track and trace system. noting that the Authority adopts a participatory approach based on open dialogue with all stakeholders, which facilitates implementation procedures and ensures the highest levels of compliance in the pharmaceutical market.
They also affirmed that the Authority’s efforts in providing technical support and regulatory clarifications enhance the readiness of the industrial sector for full compliance with the project’s requirements. This reflects the State’s commitment to building an integrated digital pharmaceutical system that serves the public interest and safeguards patient health. They stressed their commitment to full cooperation with the Authority to ensure the project’s success and achieve its goals in regulating the trade of pharmaceutical products.
Attendees from the representatives of contract manufacturing companies and drug warehouses included Dr. Haitham Dwidar and Dr. Wael Abou El-Fotouh, Board Members of the General Pharmaceutical Division of the General Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce; Dr. Mohamed Hamed and Dr. Mohamed Abdeen, Members of the General Pharmaceutical Division; and Dr. Gharam Mansour, Representative of the Distributors Committee of the General Pharmaceutical Division.
Also attending from DAF Company were Eng. Hatem Kandil, CEO and Managing Director of DAF company, along with several specialists from the company involved in the Pharmaceutical Track and Trace Project.
This meeting comes within the framework of the EDA’s plan to enhance effective communication with industry partners and the private sector, in support of the State’s efforts toward the digitization of the pharmaceutical system and achieving the highest standards of quality and governance in this vital sector.
