The Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) continues its efforts to develop the licensing system for pharmaceutical institutions and enhance the quality of services provided, as evidenced by its achievements during November 2025 in the areas of technical licensing for factories, warehouses, pharmacies, and services for pharmacists.
In the Field of Technical Licensing for Factories:
The General Administration of Factory Licensing conducted 31 inspections of manufacturers of medical preparations and supplies to ensure the application of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements, in accordance with Law No. 15 of 2017 and its executive regulations, as well as the ministerial decisions regulating the work. Additionally, 3 new technical operating licenses were issued for medical preparations and supplies factories, 1 new technical license for a plasma collection center, and 19 technical licenses were renewed for existing factories.
Regarding Pharmacy and Storage Licenses:
205 new licenses were issued for public and private pharmacies and their affiliated storage facilities.
264 transfer of ownership licenses were issued for public pharmacies.
83 architectural drawing modification licenses were issued.
Licenses for 49 drug warehouses and affiliated storage facilities were issued and renewed.
In the Field of Scientific Offices, Stability Centers, and Bioequivalence Centers Licensing:
2 licenses for new drug warehouses were issued.
6 drug warehouse licenses were renewed.
6 licenses for main scientific offices were renewed.
2 bioequivalence center licenses were renewed.
Concerning Administrative Certificates for Pharmacists:
The Authority launched the digitized licensing service for appointing managers of pharmaceutical establishments across all EDA branches, resulting in the issuance of:
1,442 Director Registration Certificates.
19 Administrative/Experience Certificates.
647 Certificates for pharmacy licensing or transfer of ownership.
2,234 Certificates for paper applications for the registration of managers of pharmaceutical institutions and establishments.
Regarding the Register of Importers and Contract Manufacturing Companies (Toll Manufacturing):
21 new registration licenses were issued in the Importers Register.
86 licenses were renewed, and 134 licenses were re-registered.
6 new licenses were issued for contract manufacturing companies.
16 licenses were renewed, and 27 license annexes were issued for existing
