Egyptian Drug Authority Signs Executive Framework of Memorandum of Understanding with Rwanda Food and Drugs Authority to Enhance Pharmaceutical Cooperation
Dr. Ali El-Ghamrawy, Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), conducted an official visit to the Rwanda Food and Drugs Authority (RFDA) in the capital, Kigali, in the presence of H.E. Ambassador Hanan Shahin, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Rwanda. The visit was marked by a warm reception and extensive welcome extended by Prof. Dr. Emile Bienvenu, Director General of the Rwanda Food and Drugs Authority, in honor of the Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority.
During the visit, the Executive Framework of the Memorandum of Understanding between the two authorities was signed. This represents a key step toward strengthening technical and administrative cooperation and coordinating regulatory procedures to ensure the safety and quality of medical products in both countries.
Dr. El-Ghamrawy affirmed that this cooperation constitutes a model for pharmaceutical partnerships among African countries and reflects the Authority’s commitment to exchanging expertise and developing joint regulatory capacities.
He further explained that this step embodies the Egyptian Drug Authority’s vision of enhancing pharmaceutical partnerships and supporting the exchange of technical expertise and distinguished regulatory practices among countries. He added that, through this cooperation, the Authority seeks to elevate the safety and quality standards of medical products and strengthen confidence in the pharmaceutical environment, thereby positively impacting public health and supporting sustainable health development in the region.
For his part, Prof. Dr. Emile Bienvenu, Director General of the Rwanda Food and Drugs Authority, noted that the signing represents a strong launch for advancing cooperation with the Egyptian Drug Authority and enhancing the health of citizens in both countries through a safe and innovative pharmaceutical environment.
This signing comes within the framework of strengthening international cooperation and building sustainable partnerships based on technical expertise and regulatory excellence, reaffirming the strength of relations between the two authorities and their shared aspiration to advance the pharmaceutical regulatory environment at the regional level.
