Signing a co-operation protocol between the Egyptian Drug Authority and the Supreme Council of Universities to start implementing the internship year for pharmacy students"

Today, Dr Ali El Ghamrawy, Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), and Dr Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, witnessed the signing ceremony of a cooperation protocol between the EDA and the Supreme Council of Universities, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the New Administrative Capital, to start implementing the compulsory training year for students of pharmacy faculties "Internship." The signing ceremony was attended by Dr Ali El Ghamrawy, Chairman of the EDA, and Dr Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, to start implementing the compulsory training year for pharmacy students "Internship."
The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Mohamed El Demerdash, Vice President of the State Council and Legal Advisor of the Egyptian Pharmaceutical Authority, Dr. Rasha Ziadeh, Assistant Chairman of the Authority for Technical and Capacity Development, Dr. Yasin Ragae, Assistant Chairman of the Authority for Media, Community Outreach and Investment Support, Dr. Amani Goudat, Associate Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority and Supervisor of the Central Administration of the Office of the Chairman of the Authority, and Dr. Osama Hatem, Associate Chairman of the Authority for Policy Affairs and International Cooperation and Supervisor of the Central Administration of Pharmaceutical Policies and Market Support, on the part of the Authority.
From the Ministry of Higher Education's side, Dr Maher El Damiaty, Chairman of the Pharmaceutical Studies Sector Committee at the Supreme Council of Universities, and Dr. Nahed Mortada, Secretary of the Pharmaceutical Studies Sector Committee at the Supreme Council of Universities, attended the signing of the protocol.
The protocol was signed by Dr Ayman Al-Khatib, Vice Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), and Dr Mostafa Refaat, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Universities.
The EDA confirmed that the protocol includes a set of practical and applied courses offered in pharmaceutical facilities and institutions, as well as governmental and private therapeutic institutions and bodies, which achieves applied training on the actual practice of the profession and works to effectively link between pharmaceutical work sites and academic study in universities.
The protocol includes six rotating training courses in various fields of pharmaceutical work, provided that the duration of each course is six weeks, starting after the student passes the number of hours stipulated in the academic regulations of the Bachelor of Pharmacy program Pharm-D or Pharm-D Clinical Pharmacy, as well as passing the summer training (100 hours), to raise the efficiency of pharmacy graduates, and invest in human resources by working on training graduates; thus achieving progress and advancement of the level of pharmacy in Egypt.
The protocol aims to develop the capabilities and skills of pharmacy graduates to meet the needs of the labor market for competencies, improve the quality of performance, and prepare qualified pharmacists with the latest concepts in the field of health care and drug discovery and development.
This comes within the framework of the Egyptian Drug Authority's keenness to pay attention to pharmaceutical human resources and work to enhance the capabilities of Egyptian pharmacists, qualify them for everything new, and provide them with the appropriate skills to keep pace with the needs of the renewed labor market.
