"The chairman of the Drug Authority discusses ways of cooperation with members of the Chamber of Pharmaceuticals, Cosmetics, and Medical Supplies

Dr Ali El Ghamrawy, Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), met with members of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Pharmaceuticals, Cosmetics and Medical Supplies and members of the General Assembly, at the headquarters of the Federation of Egyptian Industries, to discuss aspects of cooperation between the EDA and the Chamber to ensure the injection of various products into the Egyptian market and the importance of continuous production process in the factories.
The meeting discussed several challenges facing different companies and means of cooperation between the two sides, as well as encouraging and increasing pharmaceutical investments, and its importance in light of the Authority's endeavor to promote and facilitate investment support procedures, thus contributing to increasing economic growth and reducing the import bill.
Discussions also touched on ways to localize the industry to reduce the import bill and achieve self-sufficiency in various pharmaceutical products, as well as ways to support small and micro enterprises, especially the serious ones.
The meeting discussed the activities of the Chamber and the General Assembly, the efforts exerted by the Authority and the Chamber to overcome the obstacles facing the pharmaceutical sector in Egypt, proposals to protect and develop the local pharmaceutical industry, as well as the ongoing cooperation between the Authority and the Chamber to successfully train students of pharmacy faculties in the internship year.
The meeting also discussed the importance of working together to develop the Egyptian pharmaceutical sector, and the importance of achieving public benefit for all parties concerned with pharmaceutical affairs and preserving the rights of citizens to obtain safe, effective, and high-quality medicines.
This comes in light of the Authority's keenness to promote integration between different sectors, support the pharmaceutical industry, and provide all means of support in light of the challenges facing the pharmaceutical sector in Egypt, as well as the Authority's keenness to increase Egyptian exports of pharmaceuticals.
