the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with South Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety.

"As part of its commitment to expanding its international partnerships with major global pharmaceutical and regulatory institutions, the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with South Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety.
Dr. Ali Al-Ghamrawy, Chairman of the EDA, signed on behalf of Egypt, and Dr. Yu-Kyung Oh, Minister of the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, signed for South Korea. The signing took place during the EDA's participation in the AIRIS 2025 International Artificial Intelligence Conference (AIRIS 2025), hosted by South Korea.
This MoU is a significant step toward developing and elevating technical and regulatory capabilities in the pharmaceutical products field to the highest global standards. The Korean ministry was recently approved as a WHO Listed Authority (WLA) by the World Health Organization, which reflects its prestigious status and makes this collaboration a valuable addition to strengthening the efficiency of Egypt's regulatory system.
The MoU also supports the EDA's international presence and diversifies its regulatory relationships across various continents, facilitates access to successful international experiences and expertise, and paves the way for the EDA to achieve WHO Maturity Level 4. This will strengthen the Egyptian pharmaceutical market's reputation, open the way for more direct foreign and local investments, and support the export of Egyptian pharmaceutical products abroad.
The EDA's participation in this international event affirms its growing position as a leading global regulatory body with global influence. It also highlights its openness to collaborating with international partners in scientific and regulatory fields. This will boost the regional and global pharmaceutical industry, promote innovation, and ensure patients have access to safe and effective pharmaceutical products.
