Dr. Tamer El-Hossieny, Vice Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority, held a meeting with representatives from Pfizer Egypt to discuss avenues for strengthening the ongoing strategic partnership aimed at supporting the advancement of Egypt’s healthcare system.

The Pfizer delegation included Dr. Amr Seif, Regional Director for Egypt, Sudan, the Levant, and Iraq; Dr. Yomna Kotb, Head of Policy and Government Affairs for North Africa, the Levant, and Iraq; Dr. Alyaa Saud Abdullah, Regional Head of Regulatory Affairs and Registration for the Near East, North and West Africa; and Dr. Amr Abou Abdo, Pricing Lead for Egypt, Sudan, the Levant, and Iraq. From the EDA, participants included Dr. Hossam Abdullah, Associate to the EDA Chairman for Market Support and Oversight and General Manager of Market Continuity and Support, and Dr. Mona Lotfy, Manager of the Vice President’s Technical Office.

The meeting covered a wide range of technical and regulatory matters related to the company's submitted products. The two sides reviewed challenges faced by Pfizer in the recent period and explored proposed mechanisms to address them, in alignment with the applicable regulatory frameworks and without compromising the safety and efficacy of medicinal products.

In his remarks, Dr. El-Hossieny reaffirmed the EDA’s commitment to supporting serious pharmaceutical companies and maintaining a regulatory environment that fosters quality and innovation in the pharmaceutical sector in Egypt. He emphasized the Authority’s adherence to the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and transparency, and commended Pfizer for its continued contributions to the Egyptian pharmaceutical landscape. The discussion also explored avenues for providing further technical and procedural support to the company.

This meeting is part of the Egyptian Drug Authority’s ongoing efforts to strengthen partnerships with leading pharmaceutical companies, with the aim of ensuring the availability of high-quality, affordable medicines and promoting sustainable development in the pharmaceutical sector.
