EDA: Conclusion of a Training Program on Mass Spectrometry and Nitrosamine Impurities Assessment
The Egyptian Drug Authority announced the conclusion of a training program titled: “Mass Spectrometry Theory & Nitrosamines Analysis”, with the participation of specialists from the Central Administration for Pharmaceutical Control, the General Administration of Reference Laboratories, and the General Administration of the Egyptian Pharmacopoeia.
The program aimed to enhance participants’ skills in the use of mass spectrometry techniques and their applications in the analysis of pharmaceutical impurities, particularly nitrosamine impurities, ensuring compliance with internationally recognized standards such as ICH and USP.
The training included a number of specialized scientific sessions covering the fundamentals and techniques of mass spectrometry and LC-MS/MS systems, as well as methodologies for analyzing nitrosamine impurities, the relevant regulatory frameworks, and validation approaches.
It also featured advanced applications and case studies using HRMS techniques, in addition to discussing the principles for selecting appropriate analytical systems and conducting comparisons between different techniques.
This comes as part of the Egyptian Drug Authority’s commitment to keeping pace with the latest scientific advancements in pharmaceutical analysis and to developing the capabilities of its personnel in using advanced technologies, thereby enhancing the quality, safety, and efficacy of pharmaceutical products, and supporting Egypt Vision 2030 in advancing the healthcare and pharmaceutical sector.
