The Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) celebrated today the second anniversary of the launch of the electronic leaflets project, which was launched in February 2022, where the Authority has provided the service of displaying pharmaceutical leaflets electronically. The service includes placing a QR code on the outer packages to easily display the latest approved leaflet by users, which facilitates the rapid provision of the latest approved leaflets in case of any updates to the leaflets, , which requires more time to be applied to the paper leaflets.

The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Ayman Al-Khatib, Vice Chairman of EDA, Dr. Rasha Ziada, Assistant Chairman of EDA for Professional Development and Capacity Development, Dr. Yassin Ragai, Assistant Chairman of EDA for Media, Community Outreach, and Investment Support, and several EDA leaders.

Dr. Sherine Abdel Gawad, Head of the Central Administration of Pharmaceutical Care, presented the pioneering Egyptian experience, reviewed the successful experiences of several companies participating in the project, presented the importance and advantages of the project, and reviewed its most important stages and successful experiences for its application in human pharmaceuticals.

During his speech, Prof. Dr. Ayman Al-Khatib, Vice Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority, extended his thanks and gratitude to all those who participated in the success of the electronic leaflets project and the implementation of all its great goals on the ground.

He stressed that the project provides the service of electronic leaflets, which consists of delivering a medical leaflet for medicines through the presence of a specialized electronic QR code on the the outer pack to facilitate the knowledge of basic and sufficient information related to the medicine for both the patient and the healthcare providers; where the electronic leaflets project is a realistic solution that led to tangible results in the short term, in parallel with achieving the comprehensive development strategy in the long term.

He thanked the companies that initiated the project, the hard work in the application, and the joint efforts with the private sector in achieving the outstanding achievements.

This comes in line with the Authority's keenness to accelerate the digital transformation policies for all the services it provides and to emphasize the importance of excellence in providing updated and approved pharmaceutical information, including the Easy access to updated scientific information through medical leaflets by healthcare providers and the public according to the last updated scientific reference as an approved source of pharmaceutical information."
