The Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) announced the conclusion of the training program titled “Establishing and Operating Drug Information Centers (Drug Information Centers)”, held within the framework of joint cooperation between the EDA and the Supreme Authority for Medicines and Medical Supplies in Aden, Yemen.
The program aims to enhance the capabilities of Yemeni professionals in establishing, managing, and operating Drug Information Centers, in addition to strengthening the exchange of technical and regulatory expertise between both sides, contributing to the support of national medicine systems in the Arab region.
The four-day intensive training program covered a range of scientific and practical topics, including an introduction to Drug Information Centers and their role in supporting the rational use of medicines, sources of drug information, and mechanisms for handling medication-related inquiries. It also addressed the fundamentals of medication counseling and raising community awareness on the safe use of medicines.
The training further covered the development of pharmacy practice guidelines, preparation of educational materials and awareness leaflets, as well as workshops on developing national medicines lists, managing medication errors and analyzing related reports, along with reviewing EDA guidelines in the fields of antibiotics, oncology, and diabetes.
The program was attended by Dr. Yousri Ragai, Assistant to the Chairman for Media Affairs and Investment Support and Supervisor of the Central Administration of Pharmaceutical Care; Dr. Amal Abdullah, Executive Director of the Continuing Professional Development Center; and Dr. Abeer El-Beheiry, General Director of the General Administration of Pharmacy Practice at the Central Administration of Pharmaceutical Care, in addition to several department directors and experts involved in delivering the training.

This initiative comes as part of the EDA’s commitment to strengthening regional cooperation and exchanging regulatory and technical expertise with counterpart authorities, thereby contributing to institutional capacity-building and harmonizing professional standards in the pharmaceutical field at both the Arab and regional levels, in support of Egypt’s Vision 2030 for sustainable development.
