The Egyptian Drug Authority delivered a series of virtual forums and lectures through its electronic platforms during the period from January to March 2026, as part of the Pharmaceutical Care in Drug Practices initiative, “Aware Pharmacist… Aware society” which aims to enhance pharmacists’ skills and improve their scientific and practical competencies, thereby contributing to improving the quality of pharmaceutical care and drug services provided to citizens.
These activities were implemented within an integrated framework alongside the Guide to Guide (G2G) program, which aims to introduce the guidelines issued by the General Administration of Pharmaceutical and Drug Practices, targeting pharmacists across various sectors and specialties.
The “Aware Pharmacist… Aware Society ” and Guide to Guide (G2G) initiatives aim to improve the efficiency of pharmaceutical services provided and elevate the professional level of pharmacists across different fields of practice. This comes as a continuation of the Egyptian Drug Authority’s ongoing efforts and commitment to promoting the optimal and rational use of medicines, as well as supporting sustainable professional training and development in accordance with the latest international references and standards, thereby contributing to achieving the highest levels of pharmaceutical care and ensuring patient safety.
The forums included the delivery of eight (8) virtual lectures with broad participation from pharmacists, addressing several vital topics, most notably: pharmaceutical education for common diseases, the rational use of heart failure medications, sources of drug information, management of dehydration and electrolyte imbalance in children, management of drug interactions, as well as the optimal use of medications for gastric ulcers and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
The lectures also featured presentations of the latest guidelines issued by the Authority, including the guideline for the treatment of anemia in patients with chronic kidney disease, and the guideline for the use of antimicrobials in skin and soft tissue infections, in addition to highlighting the Authority’s efforts in pharmaceutical care initiatives.
This comes as part of the Egyptian Drug Authority’s commitment to advancing pharmacy practice standards and supporting the continuous professional development of pharmacists, thereby enhancing the quality of pharmaceutical services in line with the latest international standards and practices.
