The Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) Concludes a Workshop on Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Security and Combating Illicit Trade in Cooperation with AstraZeneca and DAF Companies
The Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) announced the conclusion of the joint workshop on Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Security and Combating Illicit Trade, which was organized in coordination with AstraZeneca and DAV companies during the period from November 11 to 13, 2025, with the attendance of Dr. Amal Abdullah, Executive Director of the Continuing Professional Development Center. This comes within the framework of the Authority's keenness to enhance international cooperation and exchange expertise in the field of securing the pharmaceutical supply chain and confronting the circulation of counterfeit medicines.
The workshop aimed to raise the efficiency of national cadres and build technical capabilities in the areas of Track & Trace technologies for pharmaceutical products. Participants were also introduced to the latest global practices to ensure the safe delivery of medicine to patients, in line with Egypt's Vision 2030 to support the quality and safety of medicine in the local market.
The workshop covered several important themes, including pharmaceutical security activities and combating illicit trade in regional markets, and reviewing digital monitoring programs and globally adopted production chain tracking technologies. International case studies on confronting illegal parallel trade were also presented, and mechanisms for cooperation between regulatory bodies and pharmaceutical companies in tracking and analyzing data were discussed.
International experts from AstraZeneca and DAV companies participated in the workshop, along with representatives from the technical administrations of the Egyptian Drug Authority. The sessions included interactions and discussions on enhancing the efficiency of surveillance and inspection systems and coordination with regulatory bodies.
The Authority confirmed that this workshop is a continuation of its efforts to implement the best international practices to guarantee the safety of Egyptian medicine, and to enhance cooperation with international partners to support innovation and effective control over the pharmaceutical supply chain. The workshop also contributes to developing the capabilities of national cadres, thereby enhancing the quality of surveillance and risk analysis systems, in support of Egypt's Vision 2030 goals towards institutional excellence in the health and pharmaceutical sector.
