Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority Receives Swedish Business Delegation to Discuss Prospects for Cooperation in the Healthcare and Pharmaceutical Sectors
Dr. Ali El-Ghamrawy, Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), received a Swedish business delegation headed by Ms. Karin Skogler, Country Director of Business Sweden, within the framework of strengthening technical and regulatory cooperation between the two sides.
The Swedish delegation included Ms. Johanna Nuder, Head of Trade and Economic Promotion at the Embassy of Sweden in Cairo; Mr. Amr Thabet and Mr. Amr Hassanein representing ARGO; Ms. Cecilia Sjöstedt, Mr. Essam El-Maraghi, and Mr. Hossam Nassef representing Getinge; Dr. Sami Soliman and Eng. Ahmed Noueir representing Elekta; Mr. Mikael Rosén representing Scanicare; in addition to Ms. Maria Helling and Ms. Mikaela Annerling Svan representing Swecare.
The meeting addressed a number of topics of mutual interest. The Swedish delegation reviewed the activities of companies operating in the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors, highlighting their areas of excellence and international expertise. Discussions also covered the latest regulatory developments and future trends in the pharmaceutical and medical devices sectors, reflecting the shared interest of both sides in enhancing cooperation and exchanging expertise.
During the meeting, Dr. El-Ghamrawy emphasized the importance of cooperation with international institutions and business support entities. He noted that developing strategic partnerships with organizations such as Business Sweden contributes to strengthening the institutional capacities of the Egyptian Drug Authority, enhancing the efficiency of the regulatory system, and applying best international practices and standards.
Senior officials of the Egyptian Drug Authority also presented an overview of the pharmaceutical and medical devices markets in the Arab Republic of Egypt, as well as expected growth indicators in the coming years, underscoring Egypt’s pivotal role as a regional hub for manufacturing and export to various countries worldwide.
For their part, members of the Swedish delegation commended the significant progress achieved by the Egyptian Drug Authority in the areas of governance, development of regulatory frameworks, and implementation of international standards.
Such meetings reflect the Egyptian Drug Authority’s commitment to strengthening its international relations and developing strategic partnerships in a manner that contributes to achieving sustainable development goals, enhancing the competitiveness of the pharmaceutical sector, and supporting investment in the healthcare sector.
