EDA Chairman Discusses with Representatives of “EIPICO” Strengthening Cooperation and Localizing Advanced Pharmaceutical Industries
Dr. Ali El-Ghamrawy, Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority, held a meeting with representatives of EIPICO Pharmaceuticals, headed by Dr. Ahmed Kilany, Chairman of the Board and Managing Director of the company, to discuss ways of joint cooperation and the localization of advanced pharmaceutical industries, within the framework of the Authority’s ongoing efforts to support local manufacturing and enhance partnership with the industrial sector.
The meeting addressed the discussion of a number of files related to the provision of important pharmaceutical products of priority for the Egyptian patient, in addition to reviewing EIPICO’s future plans in the Egyptian market, particularly with regard to supporting local manufacturing, investing in expanding production capacity, and transferring modern technology.
During the meeting, Dr. Ali El-Ghamrawy affirmed the continuous support provided by the Authority to national and international industry partners, and its keenness to create a stimulating regulatory environment for investment, in a way that contributes to developing production capacities and raising the competitiveness of the Egyptian pharmaceutical industry.
El-Ghamrawy pointed out that the Egyptian Drug Authority works according to an integrated vision that aims to upgrade the pharmaceutical manufacturing system, enhance reliance on local production, and support innovation and the transfer of global expertise, in a manner that ensures the sustainability of providing vital pharmaceutical products, and achieving the highest standards of quality and safety, in line with the state’s priorities in the health sector.
For his part, Dr. Ahmed Kilany, Chairman of the Board and Managing Director of EIPICO Pharmaceuticals, expressed his great appreciation for the efforts of the Egyptian Drug Authority in developing the regulatory and supervisory system, and its continuous support for the national industry, confirming that the flexible and balanced policies adopted by the Authority contribute to stimulating investment, accelerating the pace of localizing modern technology, and enhancing the ability of Egyptian companies to compete regionally and internationally.
The meeting also reflects the depth of the effective partnership between the Egyptian Drug Authority and the pharmaceutical industrial sector, in order to ensure the provision of safe, effective, and high-quality medicine for the Egyptian patient, and to enhance the sustainability of the pharmaceutical system.
This comes within the framework of the strategic direction of the state and the Egyptian Drug Authority towards strengthening national drug security and meeting patients’ needs for complex medicines locally, in a manner that consolidates Egypt’s position as a leading regional center for pharmaceutical manufacturing and circulation in the region.
