"In the context of supporting pharmaceutical exports and enhancing their competitiveness on both regional and international levels
Dr. Ali El-Ghamrawy, Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority, held an extensive meeting with representatives of the Chamber of Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Industries and the Export Council for Medical Industries, with the aim of strengthening cooperation in the field of supporting pharmaceutical exports, and overcoming challenges facing Egyptian exporters, in addition to discussing proposals for developing export-related regulatory procedures, in a way that contributes to advancing the national industry and increasing its competitiveness on the regional and international levels.
During the meeting, the challenges and obstacles facing manufacturers and exporters were discussed, as well as enhancing the procedures regulating the export of medical products and devices, in preparation for establishing a unified administration specialized in the export file, which would reduce procedural time and facilitate export movement. The discussions also touched on the importance of the digital transformation system in export procedures, in addition to enhancing training programs and technical support to raise the efficiency of workers in the field of export, which contributes to improving the quality of Egyptian products and enhancing their ability to compete globally.
Attendees also praised the Authority’s efforts in supporting the export file and its keenness to open direct communication channels with representatives of the pharmaceutical industrial sector, which contributes to achieving integration between regulatory and industrial policies and supports the competitiveness of Egyptian medicine in global markets.
The meeting was attended on behalf of the Export Council for Medical Industries by, Dr. Gamal El-Leithy, Chairman of the Chamber of Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Industries, Dr. Mohy Hafez, Chairman of the Export Council for Medical Industries, Dr. Mohamed El-Saeed, Chairman of the Medical Devices and Supplies Division, Dr. Ashraf El-Khouly, Chairman of the Holding Company, Dr. Riad Armanious, Chairman of Eva Pharma and member of the Export Council for Medical Industries and Dr. Yasser Hefny – Chairman of Rotabiogen Company, alongside a number of representatives of companies specialized in medical and cosmetic industries.
On the side of the Egyptian Drug Authority were Prof. Dr. Hanan Amin, Head of the Central Administration for Pharmaceutical Preparations, Dr. Amany Gawdat, Assistant to the Head of the Authority and Supervisor of the Central Administration of the Head’s Office, Dr. Amira Mahgoub, Head of the Central Administration for Operations, Dr. Osama Hatem, Associate to the Head of the Authority for Policy and International Cooperation Affairs and Supervisor of the Central Administration for Pharmaceutical Policies and Market Access.
This comes within the framework of the Egyptian Drug Authority’s keenness to develop export regulatory policies, and strengthen partnerships with stakeholders in the pharmaceutical industry, in a way that achieves the state’s vision of supporting exports and improving the quality of healthcare by making Egyptian medicines available in foreign markets at competitive prices and high quality.
