EDA Chairman Discusses Localizing Pharmaceutical Borosilicate Glass Manufacturing with China’s Triumph Junheng in a250 Million Dollar Investment
Dr. Al-Ghamrawy, Chairman of the EDA, received a delegation from China’s Triumph Junheng, headed by Mr. Wang Xiaochuan, Founder and CEO of the company, in the presence of Mr. Lu Changhuan, Head of Science and Technology Development, and Mr. Wang Yuntao, General Manager of Marketing, focused on enhancing cooperation in localizing the pharmaceutical borosilicate glass industry through the establishment of an integrated industrial project for its production, along with high-quality pharmaceutical packaging products, within Egypt, aligning with the state’s efforts to support advanced complementary pharmaceutical industries.
Dr. Al-Ghamrawy welcomed the Chinese delegation, affirming the EDA’s commitment to supporting and attracting high-quality investments that deepen local manufacturing and enhance the competitiveness of Egypt’s pharmaceutical industry at both regional and global levels. He also emphasized the Authority’s continuous efforts to develop regulatory and oversight frameworks in line with the latest international standards, ensuring the sustainability of this vital sector.
He highlighted that supporting the localization of advanced pharmaceutical industries is a top priority for the Authority. He noted that localizing the pharmaceutical borosilicate glass industry represents a strategic step toward achieving self-sufficiency and maintaining the stability of critical supply chains. He also underscored the EDA’s dedication to providing a favorable investment environment aligned with the highest global standards of quality and safety, ensuring the availability of safe Egyptian pharmaceutical products for patients locally and globally.
Mr. Wang Xiaochuan presented the strategic plan for the proposed project, which will be implemented in cooperation with the Chinese Development Fund, with total investments estimated at approximately 250 million dollar. He explained that the project aims to allocate 60% of production to the local market and 40% for export, further strengthening Egypt’s position as a regional hub for pharmaceutical industries and their inputs.
The Chinese delegation also expressed confidence in Egypt’s investment climate, emphasizing that the Egyptian market serves as a strategic gateway for expansion into regional and international markets, particularly considering the notable advancements in the pharmaceutical sector’s infrastructure and regulatory framework.
Triumph Junheng is considered a leading global manufacturer of neutral borosilicate glass in accordance with international standards. Its products are characterized by high thermal resistance and suitability for storing biological products and vaccines, in addition to high transparency, ensuring the preservation of the quality and safety of pharmaceutical products
