Strategic Management General Administration

The Strategic Management General Administration is a cornerstone of the organizational structure of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA). It plays a pivotal role in promoting evidence-based decision-making and guiding the Authority’s strategic orientation toward achieving its objectives efficiently and effectively—within an integrated institutional framework that aligns with national directions and international standards.

Operating in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030, the Government Action Program, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the General Administration is responsible for formulating and regularly updating the Authority’s strategic plan. This plan serves as a comprehensive reference that aligns programs, projects, and all operations and activities with national ambitions for excellence and ensures the delivery of measurable, sustainable impact.

Functioning as an integrated system, the General Administration works through a network of closely connected administrations—including Strategic Planning and Policies, Monitoring and Evaluation, Programs and Projects Management, and Crisis, Disaster, and Risk Reduction Management. These administrations collaborate seamlessly to translate strategic direction into actionable plans with tangible outcomes.

Through this coherent framework, the Strategic Management General Administration empowers the EDA to achieve its vision and mission, strengthen its institutional leadership and positioning, and ensure the continuity and sustainability of its performance.

The Strategic Management General Administration at the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) undertakes a set of core responsibilities that contribute to achieving the Authority’s vision and strategic objectives, including the following:

  • Developing and regularly updating the EDA’s strategic plan in coordination with relevant administrations, ensuring alignment with Egypt’s Vision 2030, the Government Action Program, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), while translating national and international directions into actionable programs and projects linked to strategic objectives.
  • Formulating the Authority’s overarching policies and strategic directions, ensuring consistency with national and international regulatory frameworks, and facilitating their integration into operational plans and programs.
  • Managing and updating the strategic portfolio of programs and projects, coordinating implementation to ensure optimal resource utilization to enhance execution efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Implementing a comprehensive strategic performance monitoring and evaluation system, analyzing outcomes, issuing periodic decision-support reports, and using the results to drive performance improvement and achieve strategic objectives.
  • Developing crisis, risk, and business continuity management systems, enhancing the Authority’s preparedness for emergencies, supporting future forecasting through scenario-based analysis; and maintaining continuously updated, proactive contingency plans.
  • Fostering institutional excellence and continuous improvement culture, and promoting innovation to enhance institutional performance in alignment with strategic directions.
  • Strengthening institutional partnerships and coordination mechanisms with relevant internal and external stakeholders to foster integration, alignment, and impact in strategic implementation.
