Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority Discusses Ways to Enhance Pharmaceutical Cooperation with the Ambassadors of Egypt to Rwanda and South Sudan
Dr. Ali El-Ghamrawy, Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), held a virtual meeting via video conference with Ambassador Hanan Shaheen, Egypt’s Ambassador to the Republic of Rwanda, and Ambassador Hazem Fawzy, Egypt’s Ambassador to the Republic of South Sudan. The coordination meeting aimed to discuss ways to support the presence of Egyptian pharmaceutical products in East African markets.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. El-Ghamrawy extended his congratulations to both Ambassador Hanan Shaheen and Ambassador Hazem Fawzy on the occasion of their new appointments. He emphasized the vital role played by Egyptian diplomatic missions in supporting international cooperation in the pharmaceutical sector and in enhancing Egypt’s active presence on the African continent.
The meeting also discussed mechanisms for strengthening technical cooperation with South Sudan and Rwanda in the pharmaceutical field. It emphasized the importance of building on existing momentum and activating institutional channels between the relevant parties to serve mutual interests and support Egypt’s presence in African pharmaceutical markets.
At the end of the meeting, attendees expressed their aspiration for continued coordination and fruitful cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Egyptian Drug Authority, in line with Egypt’s strategic direction to deepen partnerships with fellow African nations.
Attendees from the authority included Dr. Amany Gawdat, Associate to the EDA Chairman and Supervisor of the Central Administration of the Chairman's Office, and Dr. Osama Hatem, Associate to the EDA Chairman for Policy and International Cooperation and Supervisor of the Central Administration of Pharmaceutical Policies and Market Access.
