"Discussing Export Support Mechanisms and Strengthen Joint Cooperation Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority Receives Representatives of the Export Council for Medical Industries (ECMI)
Dr. Ali El-Ghamrawy, Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), received a number of representatives of the Export Council for Medical Industries, headed by Dr. Mohey Hafez, in the presence of EDA leaders and council members, to discuss ways to enhance Egyptian pharmaceutical exports.
During the meeting, the challenges facing exporting pharmaceutical companies were discussed, with a focus on identifying the target countries for export with the aim of signing memoranda of understanding with them to maximize the value of Egyptian exports, in addition to discussing mechanisms to enhance cooperation and coordination between the Export Council and the Export Department at the EDA to support the export movement, and addressed issues related to the challenges of cosmetics specifications and the validity of export approvals.
Dr. Ali El-Ghamrawy emphasized during the meeting the importance of the meeting with the Export Council members and expressed his confidence in the council's ability to address all challenges related to the process of enhancing Egyptian pharmaceutical exports abroad. He also affirmed the EDA's ability to maximize partnership and cooperation with the council, support all related files to it, and provide all expertise and facilitation through flexible public policies, good governance, and cooperation with all relevant parties in a multi-stakeholder strategic partnership to achieve the political directives to increase drug exports.
Dr. Mohey Hafez pointed out the importance of the export file, and praised the role of the EDA in supporting and promoting Egyptian exports abroad, and its signing of many memoranda of understanding with its counterparts in several different countries around the world, and its vision for localizing Egyptian pharmaceutical preparations in the African continent, and stressed the convergence of views between the EDA and the Export Council, and working together for the future of Egyptian pharmaceutical exports.
Both parties emphasized the importance of cooperation between the EDA and the Export Council for Medical Industries to achieve the state's vision of enhancing cooperation and supporting exports, contributing to consolidating Egypt's position as a leading center for exporting medical and pharmaceutical industries.
The meeting was attended on behalf of the EDA, by Dr. Hanan Amin, Head of the Central Administration for Pharmaceutical Products, Dr. Miriam Boulus, Head of the Central Administration for Medical Devices, Dr. Osama Hatem, Associate to the EDA Chairman for Policy and International Cooperation and Supervisor of the Central Administration of Pharmaceutical Policies and Market Access.
From the Export Council for Medical Industries, Dr. Khaled Alian, Deputy of the Export Council for Medical Industries (for Medical Devices), Dr. Mohamed Salah, Deputy of the Export Council for Medical Industries (for Cosmetics), Dr. Peter Makram, Treasurer of the Export Council for Medical Industries, Dr. Riyad Armanios, Member of the Export Council for Medical Industries, Dr. Mohamed Rabie, Member of the Export Council for Medical Industries, and Dr. Joseph Ishak, Technical Advisor to the Export Council for Medical Industries.
This came within the framework of the Egyptian Drug Authority’s keenness to engage in dialogue and exchange views, proposals and solutions with industry partners, and to work to support Egyptian drug exports.
