EDA: Seizure of an Unlicensed Warehouse Trading in Dietary Supplements and Sexual Enhancement Products of Unknown Origin in Dakahlia Governorate, with an Estimated Value of EGP 5 Million
The Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), in cooperation with the General Directorate of Supply Investigations, successfully seized an unlicensed warehouse located in Dakahlia Governorate that was engaged in the illegal trade of smuggled, unregistered dietary supplements and sexual enhancement products of unknown origin. This action followed the monitoring and tracking of a website that was promoting the seized products.
The operation was initiated after EDA inspectors, in coordination with the Internet Crimes Department, monitored the website involved in promoting and trading these smuggled and unregistered products.
Following the tracking of the website and the successful execution of a controlled purchase, inspectors were able to identify the location of the unlicensed warehouse where the unregistered and unknown products were stored. This was carried out in coordination with the General Directorate of Supply Investigations.
All individuals involved, including those responsible for the warehouse and the online platform, were apprehended. The seized items, with an estimated value of approximately EGP 5 million, were confiscated, and an official report was filed for referral to the competent prosecution authorities to initiate the necessary legal actions.
This action comes as part of the Egyptian Drug Authority’s ongoing efforts to regulate the pharmaceutical market, combat the illegal sale of medical products on online platforms, and monitor storage and distribution sites. It also reflects the Authority’s commitment to inspecting and taking action against unlicensed facilities in order to ensure the quality, efficacy, and safety of pharmaceutical products and medical supplies circulating in the Egyptian market.
