"The Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority Holds a Meeting with Representatives of Cosmetics Companies regarding Enhancing the Availability of Global Brands of Cosmetic Products in the Egyptian Market.
Dr. Ali El-Ghamrawy, Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), held a meeting with representatives from major cosmetics companies (Eva, Procter & Gamble, Kenvue, L'Oréal, and Unilever) to discuss enhancing the presence of global cosmetic brands in the Egyptian market. The meeting aimed to provide technical and procedural support as well as investment incentives to strengthen their presence in Egypt's pharmaceutical market.
The meeting covered the current status of the cosmetics market in Egypt and the challenges faced by some global brands. Discussions focused on improving the registration process for cosmetic products, ensuring the quality and safety of imported products, while maintaining smooth supply chain operations to ensure product availability in the local market.
Dr. El-Ghamrawy reaffirmed the EDA’s continuous efforts to support the cosmetics industry and create an investment-friendly environment that keeps pace with global developments in the sector and aligns with Egypt’s sustainable development goals.
Cosmetics companies praised the EDA’s efforts in supporting the industry, facilitating regulatory procedures, and fostering a stimulating work environment that attracts international investments. They emphasized that these initiatives reflect the professionalism of the EDA and its commitment to balancing consumer health protection with fostering market growth.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Hanan Amin, Head of the Central Administration for Pharmaceutical Products, Dr. Amany Gawdat, Associate to the Chairman of the EDA, and Dr. Amira Mahgoub, Head of Central Administration for Operations, along with Dr. Osama Hatem, Associate Chairman for Public Relations and International Cooperation.
Representatives from the cosmetics companies included Dr. Yasmine Armanious, Chairwoman of Eva Cosmetics, Dr. Rami Sabry, Registration Manager at Eva Cosmetics, Dr. Loai Moamen, Executive Board Member for Regulatory & Government Relations at Procter & Gamble Egypt, Dr. Ahmed Farag, Manager for Emerging Markets at Kenvue, and Dr. Ahmed Sanara, Country Manager for Kenvue in Egypt and the Horn of Africa.
This meeting is part of the EDA’s ongoing efforts to strengthen communication with various industrial sectors, contributing to the development of the local market, and ensuring a balance between regulatory efficiency and the availability of safe, high-quality products for Egyptian consumers.
