The Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) participated in the 2026 Pharmacovigilance Conference (Middle East Edition), held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, as part of efforts to support regional cooperation and exchange expertise in the field of pharmacovigilance.

During the conference, a presentation was delivered on Egypt’s pharmacovigilance system, highlighting it as a leading model to be emulated at the regional level.

Dr. Esraa Gamal, representative of the Central Administration of Pharmaceutical Care, reviewed the EDA’s efforts in the field of pharmacovigilance, including risk management plans, vaccine safety, and post-marketing surveillance of pharmaceutical products, in addition to mechanisms for monitoring adverse events and the early detection of safety signals.

The presentation also addressed the regulatory tools issued by the Authority, as well as initiatives and scientific and awareness publications aimed at raising awareness among healthcare providers and citizens. Furthermore, it highlighted capacity-building programs and international cooperation in this field, contributing to the achievement of the highest standards of medicine safety and the protection of patient health.

The EDA representative also participated in a panel discussion held as part of the conference activities, which addressed avenues for cooperation and joint training programs to ensure compliance with pharmacovigilance requirements, in addition to reviewing the Authority’s efforts in active surveillance and post-marketing vigilance.

The conference witnessed wide acclaim for the presentation delivered by the Egyptian Drug Authority and for the Egyptian experience in pharmacovigilance. In recognition of her active participation and distinguished contributions during the conference, the Authority’s representative received an honorary shield.

This participation comes within the framework of the Egyptian Drug Authority’s commitment to active engagement in international forums and conferences, reaffirming Egypt’s leading role in the pharmaceutical sector at the regional level and strengthening efforts to ensure the highest standards of medicine safety and patient protection.
