The Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) Participates in the Annual Meeting of the International Cooperation on Cosmetics Regulation (ICCR) in Canada

The Egyptian Drug Authority announced the conclusion of its participation in the 19th annual meeting of the International Cooperation on Cosmetics Regulation (ICCR-19), which was held in Canada. The meeting was attended by steering committee members from countries including Brazil, Canada, the European Union, the United States, Korea, Japan, and Taiwan, as well as observers from Saudi Arabia, Thailand, the United Kingdom, China, and Cape Verde.
The EDA was represented at the meeting by Dr. Heba Essam El-Din, General Manager of the General Administration of Cosmetic Product Registration, and Dr. Sondos Mohamed El-Saeed, Head of the Administration for Cooperation with International Organizations at the EDA Chairman's Office.
During the meeting, the latest regulatory developments among ICCR members were shared. Additionally, the outcomes of the joint working groups, in which EDA experts participate, were presented. These groups focus on the strategies for assessing the safety of cosmetic ingredients, enhancing consumer communication, and advancing e-labelling.
The EDA also participated in the discussions with industry representatives and various stakeholders regarding the application of Next Generation Risk Assessments (NGRA) methodologies. On the occasion of its twentieth anniversary, the ICCR's steering committee announced the establishment of a new joint working group to review current objectives and study the future directions of the organization.
This participation comes within the framework of the Egyptian Drug Authority's strategy to enhance its international presence and adopt global best practices in the regulation of cosmetic products. It also reflects EDA's commitment to supporting the exchange of technical and scientific expertise with international networks and organizations, which contributes to achieving the highest standards of quality and safety of cosmetic products in Egypt and worldwide.
