The Egyptian Drug Authority Holds a Workshop on the Regulatory Guideline Governing the Rules and Procedures for Granting Incentives for Serious Investment and Export Activities to Pharmaceutical Companies
The Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) organized a specialized workshop entitled “The Regulatory Guideline Governing the Rules and Procedures for Granting Incentives for Serious Investment and Export Activities to Pharmaceutical Companies,” as part of the Authority’s ongoing efforts to enhance the pharmaceutical investment environment, support the competitiveness of the local industry, and encourage the growth and export expansion of the Egyptian pharmaceutical sector.
The workshop comes in light of the issuance of the regulatory guideline in December 2025 and aimed to familiarize pharmaceutical companies with the rules and procedures governing eligibility for serious investment and export incentives, while also explaining the implementation mechanisms and the criteria for benefiting from the approved incentives. This contributes to strengthening the pharmaceutical investment climate, enhancing communication and integration with industry partners, and facilitating companies’ access to the available incentives.
The workshop was presented by Dr. Norhan El Manzalawy, Director of the Follow-up and Decision Support Unit and Rapporteur of the Committee for Evaluating and Reviewing Serious Investment and Export Incentives; Dr. Hadeer Abdel Fattah, Director of the Investment Support and Localization Department; and Dr. Yasmin El Khatib, Director of the Export Support and Follow-up Department. The workshop reviewed the available incentives and the mechanisms for benefiting from them in accordance with the regulatory guideline, in addition to clarifying the regulations and procedures governing the evaluation process and the granting of incentives.
The workshop addressed the incentives provided under several strategic pillars, including incentives related to local manufacturing localization and strengthening drug security, incentives for injecting new investments, including the establishment and licensing of new production lines, as well as incentives for export growth and expansion, and incentives dedicated to local factories in remote areas according to geographic distance and regional development criteria.
The workshop also featured an interactive discussion with representatives of pharmaceutical companies, during which the mechanisms for benefiting from the incentives were discussed and various inquiries were addressed. The participants emphasized the important role played by national companies as key partners in supporting and advancing the Egyptian pharmaceutical industry and enhancing its competitiveness at both the regional and international levels.
This comes within the framework of the Egyptian Drug Authority’s strategy aimed at strengthening integration with industry partners, supporting the growth of the Egyptian pharmaceutical sector, and encouraging investment and export expansion, thereby contributing to sustainable development, strengthening Egypt’s pharmaceutical security, and reinforcing Egypt’s position as a regional hub for pharmaceutical manufacturing and export.
