As part of inspection campaigns to regulate the pharmaceutical market during November Egyptian Drug Authority: Inspection of approximately 22,763 pharmaceutical establishments and detection of 2,663 various violations
The Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), in cooperation with regulatory and security bodies, carried out intensive inspection campaigns on pharmaceutical establishments across various governorates during the month of November, as part of its ongoing efforts to protect public health and regulate the pharmaceutical market.
The campaigns resulted in the inspection of approximately 22,763 pharmaceutical establishments, including factories, pharmaceutical companies, warehouses, and both public and private pharmacies, in addition to scientific offices and centers for stability and bioequivalence studies. A total of 2,663 various violations were detected, and 1,446 police reports were filed, including 25 reports related to online pharmaceutical crimes. All reports were referred to the competent prosecution to take legal action in accordance with the Pharmacy Practice Law No. 127 of 1955.
In coordination with security authorities, the EDA also conducted 761 specialized inspection campaigns, which resulted in the detection of 10 unlicensed pharmacies and 11 unlicensed warehouses.
As part of supporting corrective compliance, 1,217 corrective action plans submitted by non-compliant establishments were accepted and implemented to rectify their status in line with approved standards and regulations.
The Egyptian Drug Authority reaffirms its continued commitment to taking all legal and regulatory measures against any violations that may jeopardize medication safety or public health, urging all pharmaceutical establishments to fully comply with laws and regulations to ensure the provision of safe and effective pharmaceutical services.
