EDA Chairman Discusses Localization of the Pharmaceutical Industry with Gyptho Pharma and China’s Gan & Lee
Dr. Ali Al-Ghamrawy held a meeting with representatives of Gyptho Pharma, headed by Dr. Amr Mamdouh, Chairman of the Board, and Gan & Lee Pharmaceuticals, led by Mr. Du Kai, Executive Manager of Gan & Lee, to discuss avenues of joint cooperation in the localization of advanced pharmaceutical industries in Egypt.
The meeting addressed the localization of long-acting insulin production in Egypt, the expansion of local manufacturing capacity, and the enhancement of investment in the national pharmaceutical sector. Discussions also reviewed plans to ensure the availability of priority and vital pharmaceutical products for patients, as well as the transfer of advanced technologies to the Egyptian pharmaceutical industry.
At the outset of the meeting, Dr. Al-Ghamrawy welcomed the participating delegation, affirming the EDA’s continued support for national and international industrial partners, and emphasizing the importance of localizing the production of long-acting insulin in Egypt—an initiative in which Gyptho Pharma plays a strategic national role.
Dr. Al-Ghamrawy further highlighted that the EDA is working to strengthen the local pharmaceutical manufacturing ecosystem, emphasizing that localization of pharmaceutical industries represents a pivotal step toward achieving self-sufficiency in vital medicines and enhancing the competitiveness of the national industry at both regional and international levels. He noted that the Authority will continue to provide all necessary technical and regulatory support to ensure the success of this strategic partnership and to maximize benefits for both patients and investors.
For their part, the delegation expressed deep appreciation for the EDA, affirming that the Authority’s ongoing support plays a decisive role in strengthening international partnerships and facilitating the transfer of the latest pharmaceutical technologies to Egypt. They also commended the EDA’s strategic vision and efforts to advance the national pharmaceutical industry, reaffirming their commitment to introducing the latest pharmaceutical innovations to the Egyptian market in support of patients and national pharmaceutical products security.
The meeting aligns with the framework of the state’s strategic direction and the EDA’s efforts to enhance national pharmaceutical products security, meet patients’ needs for complex medicines through local production, and reinforce Egypt’s position as a leading regional hub for pharmaceutical manufacturing and distribution.
