EDA Chairman Discusses Pharmaceutical Investment Support and Localization of vital Manufacturing with Abbott Representatives
Dr. Ali Al-Ghamrawy, Chairman of the EDA, held a meeting with representatives of Abbott, headed by Dr. Mazen Hassan, Regional Head for the Middle East, Africa and Pakistan, to discuss mechanisms for joint cooperation and follow up on the company’s plans related to the registration and supply of vital products in the Egyptian market. The meeting comes within the framework of the Authority’s ongoing efforts to strengthen partnerships with major global pharmaceutical companies operating in the pharmaceutical sector.
During the meeting, Dr. Al-Ghamrawy emphasized the EDA’s commitment to providing all forms of technical and regulatory support to help accelerate registration procedures and support the localization of pharmaceutical manufacturing, thereby enhancing the availability of innovative biological and pharmaceutical products for Egyptian patients and supporting the state’s efforts toward achieving pharmaceutical security.
Dr. Al-Ghamrawy added that the EDA gives great importance to supporting strategic partnerships with global companies, contributing to technology transfer and strengthening local manufacturing capabilities. He further affirmed that the Authority operates according to an integrated vision aimed at ensuring the availability of safe, effective, and high-quality pharmaceutical products, while supporting innovation and encouraging investment in Egypt’s pharmaceutical sector.
For their part, Abbott representatives expressed their appreciation for the EDA's efforts in supporting and advancing the pharmaceutical sector. They praised the remarkable progress witnessed in Egypt’s pharmaceutical regulatory and technical systems, affirming the company’s commitment to expanding its investments in the Egyptian market and cooperating with the Authority to support localization plans and provide the latest therapeutic products for Egyptian patients.
The meeting covered discussions on the company's roadmap to finalize localization procedures for several of its products in the Egyptian market. Additionally, it reviewed the latest developments regarding the company’s investment and expansion plans in the Egyptian pharmaceutical market in a manner that meets market needs and serves Egyptian patients.
