EDA Chairman Signs Cooperation Protocol with the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) to Strengthen Regulatory Integration
Dr. Ali Al-Ghamrawy, Chairman of the EDA, signed a joint cooperation protocol with Dr. Tarek El-Houby, Chairman of the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA), within the framework of supporting institutional cooperation between the two entities, integrating regulatory roles, and exchanging technical expertise and data. This initiative aims to strengthen oversight of products related to public health, ensure the highest standards of quality and safety, and guarantee the availability of safe and effective products to Egyptian citizens. The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Tamer El Hossieny, Vice Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority.
The protocol focuses on coordinating efforts in the fields of inspection and control, exchanging technical data and information, and cooperating on products with overlapping jurisdictions between both parties. This will ensure speed and efficiency in regulatory decision-making, strengthen the effectiveness of the regulatory system, minimize jurisdictional overlap, and improve institutional performance.
Dr. Al-Ghamrawy emphasized that this protocol represents a strategic step toward reinforcing the concept of institutional integration among relevant regulatory authorities. He noted that the current phase requires unified efforts and aligned visions to ensure the implementation of best regulatory and oversight practices, thereby enhancing public confidence in the healthcare system and supporting the competitiveness of the national industry.
He further added that the Egyptian Drug Authority continues to strengthen its regulatory framework and update its operational mechanisms in accordance with the latest international standards, contributing to enhanced governance and achieving the highest levels of quality and transparency.
For his part, Dr. Tarek El-Houby expressed his appreciation for the fruitful cooperation with the Egyptian Drug Authority, praising the significant development witnessed in the pharmaceutical regulatory system, which reflects a strong institutional commitment to implementing the latest regulatory frameworks.
