The Egyptian Drug Authority inaugurates new branch offices in Alexandria and Sharqia to enhance its presence across governorates
On behalf of Dr. Ali El-Ghamrawy, Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), Dr. Tamer Elhossieny, Vice Chairman of the EDA, inaugurated the newly renovated offices of the Authority in the governorates of Alexandria and Sharqia. The openings come as part of a comprehensive plan to modernize infrastructure and expand the Authority’s footprint nationwide.
The EDA affirmed that the opening of these offices reflects its commitment to providing a modern and efficient work environment that enhances performance, strengthens oversight over pharmaceutical products, and facilitates regulatory procedures for institutions operating in the sector.
This step marks a significant addition to the Authority’s role in supporting Egypt’s pharmaceutical sector and advancing national efforts to improve the quality of healthcare and pharmaceutical services provided to citizens, in line with its vision to enhance governance and uphold the highest standards of quality and transparency.
The Authority emphasized that developing its regulatory and supervisory framework is a key priority in ensuring that all pharmaceutical institutions comply with laws and standards governing the sector — thereby guaranteeing the availability of safe, effective, and high-quality medicines for Egyptian patients.
It added that the inauguration of these branch offices is part of a broader plan for expansion and modernization of operational mechanisms across the country, aimed at strengthening its ability to meet current needs and future challenges.
The opening ceremony was attended by Major General Yasin Amin, Head of the Central Administration for the General Secretariat; Dr. Amira Mahjoub, Head of the Central Administration for Inspection of Pharmaceutical Establishments; and Dr. Mohab Fady, Head of the Central Administration for Licensing of Pharmaceutical Establishments.
The Egyptian Drug Authority reaffirmed that the establishment of these new offices demonstrates its dedication to supporting the government’s vision of promoting decentralization, streamlining services, and ensuring efficient and timely delivery of technical and regulatory support across all governorates.
This milestone also represents a practical step toward achieving the objectives of Egypt Vision 2030 — strengthening the national healthcare and pharmaceutical systems, and promoting sustainable development that prioritizes citizens’ health and well-being.
