The Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) organized an official site visit for the delegation of the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) of the People’s Republic of China to several Egyptian medical device manufacturing facilities. The visit took place on the sidelines of the 2025 GHWP Technical Committee Leaders’ Meeting, currently hosted by EDA in Cairo.
The Chinese delegation was headed by Dr. Xu Jinghe, Deputy Commissioner of the Chinese National Medical Products Administration and Chairman of the Global Harmonization Working Party (GHWP) organization. He was accompanied by Mr. Huang Lunliang, Third Consultant at the Medical Device Regulation Department, and Ms. Pan Jingjing, First Principal Staff Member of the Department of Science, Technology and International Cooperation.
The visit included a tour of multiple manufacturing sites located in Obour City and New Cairo. Representatives from EDA’s Central Administration for Operations and the General Administration for Public Relations and International Cooperation also accompanied the delegation.
During the tour, the Chinese officials observed best practices in Good Manufacturing Practices and advanced technologies used in Egyptian medical device production. They expressed admiration for the high level of technology, production line efficiency, and adherence to international quality standards.
At the conclusion of the visit, the NMPA delegation extended their appreciation to the Egyptian Drug Authority for its warm hospitality and excellent organization. They also emphasized the importance of continued collaboration and knowledge exchange between Egypt and China.
This visit aligns with EDA’s strategic vision to localize medical industries, expand the global reach of Egyptian medical devices, and support Egypt’s Vision 2030. It also reinforces EDA’s regulatory and technical role in empowering the local medical manufacturing sector.
