"Vice President of the Egyptian Drug Authority Meets STADA Pharmaceuticals Delegation to Discuss Strategic Cooperation and Localization Initiatives.
Dr. Tamer El-Hossieny, Vice Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority, and Dr. Yasin Ragaey, Assistant Chairman for Media Affairs and Investment Support and Supervisor of the Central Administration for Pharmaceutical Care, held a high-level meeting with a delegation from STADA Pharmaceuticals, headed by Mr. Stephane Jacqmin, Executive Vice President of STADA and President of Emerging Markets to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the two sides in the field of pharmaceutical industries in a way that supports the strengthening of the localization of the national pharmaceutical industry.
During the meeting, the company's current expansion plans were reviewed, as well as the company's plan aimed at localizing a range of important and strategic preparations, most notably oncology drugs, to enhance self-sufficiency and ensure the availability of vital preparations in the Egyptian market.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of technology transfer and the exchange of expertise in the field of pharmaceutical research and development. Discussions included the registration of selected biological products by the company in Egypt. The STADA delegation reaffirmed its full commitment to supporting the state’s vision for the localization of biopharmaceutical industries and the expansion of exports, expressing optimism for a fruitful and constructive collaboration with the EDA in achieving these shared objectives.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties emphasized the importance of maintaining ongoing coordination and actively addressing any challenges that may arise in implementing industrial localization plans and increasing pharmaceutical investments. They agreed that effective alignment and open communication between the Authority and industry stakeholders are critical to ensuring that the needs of Egyptian patients are met through the availability of safe and effective medicines.
From the EDA, the meeting was attended by Dr. Mona Lotfy, Manager of the Vice President’s Technical Office, along with representatives from several central administrations, including Pharmaceutical Policy and Market Access, Pharmaceutical Products, Biological, Innovative Products, and Clinical Studies. Representing STADA were Mr. Mostafa Ghabara Vice President of Emerging Markets & Head of Global Export & Trade Markets; Dr. Mohamed Safey, Country Manager - Egypt; and Dr. Ahmed Abdelaleem, Regulatory Manager – Egypt.
This meeting reflects the EDA’s commitment to building bridges with international industry partners, gaining insights into their perspectives on investing in Egypt’s pharmaceutical sector, and activating productive partnerships to support the localization of essential biopharmaceutical products in the country.
