"Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority Meets with Chairman of Vitabiotics Egypt to Discuss Ways to Expansion in Vital Pharmaceutical Industries
Dr. Ali El-Ghamrawy, Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority, received Dr. Sherif Rashed, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Aptecure, the exclusive partner of Vitabiotics Egypt, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in the field of localizing vital pharmaceutical industries, and to expand pharmaceutical and dietary supplements production lines, in addition to discussing ways to support scientific research and continuous training for pharmacists, in order to meet the needs of the state and achieve self-sufficiency in medical preparations.
The discussion included collaboration on various pharmaceutical initiatives, such as launching awareness campaigns on rational drug use in partnership with EDA and supporting the pharmacy inspection sector to ensure adherence to the highest quality and safety standards. Additionally, the parties explored mechanisms to strengthen the national pharmaceutical industry, including a tour of the Vitabiotics Egypt factory and discussing EDA’s vision for advancing Egypt’s pharmaceutical sector.
For his part, Dr. Ali El-Ghamrawy affirmed the EDA’s keenness to provide all means of technical and procedural support to local and international industry partners, and to work on exchanging experiences to achieve the best benefit from global pharmaceutical practices, noting the Egyptian Drug Authority's keenness on the success of all efforts aimed at enhancing Egyptian pharmaceutical security and achieving health integration.
The Chairman of the Drug Authority also praised Vitabiotics' efforts in supporting the Egyptian pharmaceutical sector, especially with regard to expanding production lines for pharmaceutical preparations and vitamins, and its role in supporting scientific research and research applications for pharmaceutical development and promoting innovation in the pharmaceutical industry.
Dr. Sherif Rashad commended EDA’s pivotal role in supporting Egypt’s pharmaceutical industry over the years. He expressed appreciation for the strengthened cooperation and stated that Vitabiotics plans to invest EGP 600 million in expanding its current production lines and increasing the facility’s manufacturing capacity.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Rasha Ziada, Egyptian Drug Authority Chairman's Assistant for Technical Development and Capability Building Affairs, Dr. Yasin Ragaey, Assistant Chairman of the Authority for Media Affairs and Investment Support and Supervisor of the Central Administration for Pharmaceutical Care, Dr. Amany Gawdat, Associate to the EDA Chairman and Supervisor of the Central Administration of the Chairman Office, Dr. Osama Hatem, Associate to the EDA Chairman for Policy and International Cooperation and Supervisor of the Central Administration of Pharmaceutical Policies and Market Access, Dr. Amira Mahgoub, Head of the Central Administration for Operations, and from Vitabiotics, Mr. Walid Abdel Hafez, Advisor for Marketing and Communication with Government Sectors.
This meeting comes within the framework of the EDA 's keenness to enhance partnership with major pharmaceutical companies, and support innovation and local manufacturing, in order to ensure the provision of high-quality pharmaceutical preparations at appropriate prices, and achieve sustainable development in the pharmaceutical sector.
