The EDA and Swissmedic Announce a Strategic Partnership
As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen international cooperation with leading reference regulatory authorities, the Egyptian Drug Authority held a high-level meeting with the Swiss Agency for Therapeutic Products (Swissmedic) in Bern, Switzerland. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Ali Al-Ghamrawy, Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority, and Ms. Vincenza Trivigno, Chief Executive Officer of Swissmedic.
The meeting was attended by Ambassador Mohamed Negm, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Switzerland; Minister Plenipotentiary Mohamed Helmy Ismail, Deputy Ambassador; and Counselor Khaled Attallah, Consul General of Egypt in Geneva, reflecting the significance of the meeting and the depth of bilateral relations between the two nations.
Discussions focused on expanding cooperation in regulatory affairs, exchanging scientific and technical expertise, and exploring opportunities for mutual learning to strengthen collaboration and support the continuous development of regulatory systems.
Swissmedic commended the Egyptian Drug Authority’s continuous commitment to regulatory excellence, its extensive expertise in building and advancing regulatory capacity, and its growing role in supporting regulatory harmonization efforts at both the regional and continental levels.
The discussions also addressed opportunities to enhance cooperation across several priority regulatory areas, contributing to the continued advancement of regulatory systems, improving regulatory efficiency, strengthening the competitiveness of Egypt’s pharmaceutical sector, and further reinforcing the Egyptian Drug Authority’s leadership and influence at the regional and continental levels.
